Pieces

Pieces Within Pieces

We are members of a community, patients of a clinic,

A piece of a big world, one of many,

But one of a kind, maintaining individuality,

Only to be made up of many more pieces.

We are pieces within pieces.

We are the warm blood that creeps through tortuous vessels- some narrow, some wide,

Feeding the body and the brain, a highway of more pieces, moving along with purpose.

We are the muscles ever-changing, from a youthful plump to well-lived fragility.

We are the bones- scaffolding the body that crawls, runs, sits, and sleeps through years of change.

We are hearts, livers, lungs, and kidneys- working in unison to maintain health and viability.

We are a mind- capable of making change, capable of kindness and evil alike,

A mind, constantly thinking, growing young with new adventures, growing old with responsibility,

A mind full of ideas and learning about more, capable of contemplating failure and success.

We are a soul, capable of achieving success,

A soul that we invisibly pour into our ideas and goals,

A soul, a piece often neglected, yet one with never ending willpower, capable of carrying out change,

We are a body, a mind, and a soul.

We are a patient in a clinic needing help, needing cures.

You give me medicines that flow through my blood and affect my muscles and bones.

I need peace for all my pieces- my soul, my mind, my body.

We are a piece made of pieces- all needing care to feel whole again.
