The Misunderstood Reality

A Doctor’s Cry:

You find it hard to believe, but you are…

You are the moments you spend lounging on your couch, inactive and immobile.
You are the piles of stress that rest upon your shoulders.
You are the burgers and fries that you consume, and the sodas you drink with ease.

You are the overweight adult setting a bad example for your children at every meal.

You are the familiar face at the drive through window of the local fast food joint.

You are the noncompliant patient, who fails to refill medications and treat yourself.

You are the person I counsel about weight loss and diet changes, only to see stasis.

You are capable of more.

You are the change you want to see in yourself.

It begins with you.

You can be the fit role model for your family.

You can be healthy.

Only you can do it!

Why don’t you?

A Patient’s Plea:

I am tired at the day’s end, because I work two jobs. So I rest when I can.

I am afraid of walking outside, because of rampant loose dogs and gang violence.

I am living from pay check to pay check and can’t afford a gym membership.

I am eating what is cost effective, fruits and veggies are expensive and hastily rot.

I am a single mother, in over my head with chores and bills.

I am giving up my medications, so my kids can have school clothes and play sports.

I go through the drive through, because my gas and electricity were turned off.

I am trying, but you can’t see it.

I do everything for my family, but I can’t do it all.

I don’t choose to be unhealthy.
